Tutorial Feedback

Tutorial Feedback for Development

I had a development tutorial on Monday the 19th this week for my samples and designs. The feedback I had has really helped me to progress my samples, and are starting to formulate final designs for my wallpaper brief based on the Tropics.

Here are my lines of enquiry for the next few weeks as i start to produce my final pieces:

Under the sea

Paint up a large whale for more visual work- textures, mark making etc.
Develop my intitial samples into final wallpaper samples.
Create a fabric design sample from each final design, using the same imagary.
Create a neutral, more relaxed colourway sample for each final design.

Here is one of my initial designs for my "under the sea" samples,

Bird and flower

Get photographs taken of my development boards to use in photoshop - I will put these up on here.
Create more refined final designs for my wallpaper samples and show various colour-ways
I may hand-paint a few of my wallpaper samples.

Sample Development Ideas- Tropical Wallpaper

Wallpaper Development Samples for Flower and Bird Collection

I created these designs in photoshop, using the work I have painted over the past few months for my Flower and Bird collection within my brief.  I wanted to create sharp contemporary samples so i decided to add some photographic images that i took at Tatton Park in Knutsford, Cheshire.

Colour Pallet Ideas

This colour pallet fits in well with my brief and has a tropical paradise feel to it. I found this colour pallet at picstopin.com.
I tweaked the sample design idea below on Photoshop, to create a more busy sample. The second is my original design board.

Flowers Development

Flowers Using Chinese Paints
Development Board

I painted this collection of flowers to see what different textures I could create. I used line and mark making to create the insides of the flowers and leaves. Some of the flowers worked out well but others not so much. I prefer the flowers that I used a wet paint to create, rather than dry brush strokes of the blue flower. ( top, centre)
I love strong line and colour, and i think this has come across well in this development for my Tropical wallpaper collection.

Tatton Park Gardens

Here are some of my inspirations from photographs i took at Tatton Park in Knutsford. It was a great day out and was very inspiring!

Inspiration for 'Under the Sea' Collection

Tropical Brief

I snapped these photographs when I was at the Blue Planet Aquarium in Ellesmere Port. I managed to gain a lot of my research there, mostly on fish and coral. I have split my brief into two separate collections. One for tropical birds and flowers, and the other for under water tropics. I want to create two feelings of paradise and what better way to do that than using land and water. Here are some images i have collected for my inspiration.
I shall be posting my new 'Under The Sea' drawings and paintings soon. =)
